Asha Niketan Asansol celebrated its fifth anniversary  on 21st April at St. Vincent`s school auditorium. Mr. Francis Colaso , the president of F.M.R.India as chief guest ; Rev. Bro. Avinash D`mello as guest of honour , Mr. P.K.Kunhikanaran , the national leader for L`arche in India, Mrs. Seema Paul, Mr. Ravi Victor , the principals of the neighbouring schools and all other  directors  were present in the programme.

The distinguished guests  were welcomed by one of our core-members Barnabas Hansda.This was followed by lighting of the lamp by the guests and the board of directors.

Mr. P.K.Kunhikanaran ,the national leader announced the community mandate for Asha Niketan Asansol for 2012-2016 and it was handed over to Mr. Balaram Samanta ,the community leader by the President of F.M.R.India.

A beautiful photo presentation of different activities and life of Asha Niketan  Asansol since its foundation in 2007 till 2012 took place .

We are very grateful to Mr. Ravi Victor , the principal of St. Vincent`s school and the board member of Asha Niketan who  created and launched the website the website of Asha Niketan Asansol. One of our new primary goals is to communicate the Identity , Mission and events of our community and life at Asha Niketan Asansol to the world through this website.

It had been a dream for the Asansol community to have its own souvenir on the occasion of this fifth anniversary programme . We are very grateful to our well wishers who have supported financially for the programme and for the souvenir. The souvenir was released by chairperson Mrs. Seema paul on this special day.

The core-members, friends , volunteers and assistants performed beautiful group and solo dances. The core-members from Asha Niketan Kolkata staged a beautiful dramatic presentation of the play “ A selfish Giant.”

Rabindranath Tagore`s poem ‘Samanna Khoti’ ( Negligible loss) was presented in the form of a dance drama by the core-members of Asha Niketan Asansol and the students of St. Vincent`s school . It was much anticipated finale of that evening . This presentation showed how people with and without intellectual disability can make beautiful things being together.

We are so grateful to Rev. Bro James Joseph , the superior of Congregation of Christian Brothers in Asansol in the good company of Mr. Victor the principal of St. Vincent`s  school for  accommodating  us in the auditorium hall for the night`s celebration and housed our guests in their quarters.
